A master craftsman in violin making, as well as restoration and repair, John Hill uses traditional old world methods inspired by the great 17th and 18th century masters from Cremona, as well as other violin making centers in Italy. Taught by award winning Violin Maker John Harrison, John Hill has also refined his art by his own careful study of the diverse and varying elements that interplay in a beautifully sounding instrument. As a lifelong musician on violin and guitar, he is aware of the nuances that are sought after by serious artists. In 2003, his large viola won first prize for tone - VMAAI.
